Easter Fun

Easter 2013

Oh what a change this Easter was from our last year’s Easter.

I cannot get over how much fun it is to have a toddler. To see all the experiences?through?their curious eyes.

We had two egg hunts this year, but at the moment I will only be posting one. The second one has 748 photos to go through. And is more of a baby photoshoot than an egg hunt. Gorgeous inspired photoshoot.

On Saturday we were invited to a neighborhood egg hunt and boy, was I surprised.

First Birthday: Morning of & Gift Opening

Written by Elena @The Art of Making a Baby. Posted in Alexis, Life as a Toddler, New Mom Experience, photo

I am starting a series of posts about Alexis’ First Birthday celebration.

I was going back and forth between doing a party and celebrating small with just family and then finally things started falling in place for a party, so I decided to go for it.
We both felt like the first year needs to be celebrated. It was a trying and a joyful year for us an one of the most important years for Alexis and that needed to be acknowledged.

Slowly I came up with a theme I wanted to have: French. I didn’t have a clear idea on whether it was going to be Paris or Poodle (ok, definitely not poodle) or countryside or shabby chic. It was kind of a mix of everything…but that’s for a later post.

The morning of January 31st, we woke up bright and early with Alexis while it was still sort of dark. Her grandma USA was visiting and my mom is staying with us, so they promptly came out to congratulate their adorable granddaughter and watch her open presents. For the gift opening, she wore her new dress, a birthday gift from Nosilla Organics and a matching diaper ( so cool that we had a teal BG to go with it)

Memories, Dreams & Reflections: 2012

me

Two years ago I was lucky enough to have a ton of time on my hands, a passion for photography and countless fun times. So when I participated in Ashley’s Memories, Dreams, Reflections, there was a lot to reminisce about. The next year that followed was all about my pregnancy and, honestly, I couldn’t even think about anything but the upcoming birth, so I skipped MDR.

This year, however, is perfect! It was simple, different, somewhat uneventful, but at the same time HUGE when it comes to our roles as parents and our baby girl. So here is a look back at what 2012 had in store for us, based on the prompts provided by MDR 2012.

A Non-traditional Gift Guide

The holidays are coming up and I considered making a gift guide, but the truth is there are enough gift guides out there to render mine redundant. So I figured instead of writing a traditional gift guide post with some hypothetical things that I think someone would like, I will instead share with you real gifts that we bought this year and things that we love coming from our personal experience. Things that we rave about, things that we bought ourselves, things that Alexis will get for her first Christmas and birthday. And it’s completely up to you to decide whether it’s for you or not.

Baby Classes

swimclass
I completely spaced out with everything that is occupying my head right now and forgot to write about how our first baby classes went/are going.

Let’s start with our swim classes. Like most of you pointed out on facebook to calm my fears of having to dunk Alexis, first swim classes are introduction to water. That means: getting comfortable in the water, learning to reach the ledge, singing songs and just in general having fun. Sounded great to me!

We arrived to our first class ( that was back in September I think) and were the third mom/baby pair at the class, the other two with a 1 year old and a 2 year old. What I didn’t realize was how basic the class would be. It makes sense now: introduction to water!

Halloween 2012: Baby’s First Halloween

halloween 12

A quick post about how our Halloween went. We have a love hate relationship with the holiday based on whether we are able to come up with an interesting costume idea or not :)
Those years that we hadn’t or had been too busy, we acted like it wasn’t even Halloween. On other years, we had more fun than one should be allowed to have. You can see our previous years’ costumes in this post.

This year we were invited to a friend’s Halloween party. After some searching I found the perfect family outfit :) I had to search the net for a green mushroom hat and a onesie with the mushroom graphic on it, but our two costumes were super easy.

Mario, Princess Peach and Lexi as our little Power Up Mushroom

Miss Lexi channeling her Holiday Spirit….

merrychristmas

The other day we woke up early and decided to do a photoshoot.

A Holiday themed photoshoot, that is.

It took literally both of us + 2 cats + 2 books + a drum, a lens cap and 3 cups to get the job done, i.e keep Alexis from speed crawling away from our make-shift “Christmas tree”.

At the end my husband and I were both sweaty, tired, but happy to have gotten THE SHOT. Or more like A TON OF SHOTS that we love love love!

Baby photographers- I BOW to you because you have the hardest job!

We picked out the best shot to be featured in the Mud Pie contest.
Click here to see which photo we picked and vote for Lexi ( you vote by liking the photo on Mud Pie’s FB page)

And after you vote, you can come back here to see which photos didn’t make the cut, but are still so so precious.
