Get Ready to Get Pregnant: Your Complete Pre-pregnancy Guide to Making a Smart and Healthy Baby

This is my favorite pre-conception book. If you were to only read one book before you start TTC, this would have to be it. The author discussed all the important aspects of getting ready to be pregnant, plus explains how seemingly harmless things can negatively impact your fertility, and your future baby. I learned a lot of new things that I applied to both my normal life as well as my pre-TTC life. I’d recommend anyone of childbearing age reads this book, even if you’re not planning babies for a few years. I wish I had started doing this a few years before.

I say it’s a MUST

Before Your Pregnancy: A 90-Day Guide for Couples on How to Prepare for a Healthy Conception

I found this book very useful in combination with the one above. It is a lot simpler and breaks things down into easier chunks. More straightforward, but less educating than the other. It definitely give you all the information you need to have before you start TTC: vaccines, pre-conception check up, nutrition, fertility tips. If you’re not looking for new concepts and drastic changes to your lifestyle, but what a smart reliable source, this is the book for you.

Yes if you are easily overwhelmed and want a straight forward good guide

What to Expect Before You’re Expecting

This is the quintessential pregnancy series. However, being the most popular book, of course, it’s written for the lowest common denominator. I didn’t like the author’s style- it didn’t feel like a serious book that talks about how to prepare for one of the most important times in any woman’s life. It tried too hard to use jokes, and puns and filler sentences, rather than give you information. The information that it did give you, while correct and somewhat useful, left you feeling like you could do it or skip it- it won’t matter. To me it was a waste of time and money, but I was determined to read as much as I could.

I say it’s a PASS
